Profile
Elizabeth grew up on a sheep,
cattle and farming property on the Darling Downs in Queensland,
Australia. As a small child she remembers a longing to reach out and help
people. An avid reader, her favourite books were biographies of people
who were helping humanity. Amongst other childhood dreams she wanted to
become a missionary and a nurse, but also a wife and a mother.
The latter she
achieved when she married a wonderful man who had also been brought up on
the land. Her other dreams were put on hold as she and her husband raised
a family of three beautiful children. Eventually Elizabeth and her husband
were proud to welcome into their family two sons-in-law and one
daughter-in-law. They now consider that they have six children and have
been further blessed with eight grandchildren.
Elizabeth and her
husband live on their cattle property in western Queensland, but Elizabeth
(with the blessing of her husband) has now chosen to not be so involved in
the running of the property and feels now is her time to ‘give back’; to
answer the call that she believes her soul was instilling in her all those
years ago.
However, she did wonder what she, one person, could do?
Edward Everett Hale puts it beautifully –
"I am
only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do
something; I will not refuse to do something I can do." |
